Two outdoor cameras at €34.99: the Ring Stick Up Cam Battery and the Tapo C310 had the same price on their official French shops on 29 September 2026. The two brands still follow two different approaches to video: local storage on a microSD card at Tapo, cloud history with the Ring Home subscription at Ring.
Tapo, if the goal is to…
- keep videos locally on a microSD card, with no subscription
- control cameras with Google Assistant or Alexa
- watch a place with no internet box, thanks to 4G
- move up to 4K or dual-lens models
Ring, if the goal is to…
- fit cameras into an Alexa home with Echo Show screens
- keep up to 180 days of history in the cloud
- start with a €34.99 battery camera

Storage and subscription: two approaches
At Tapo, every outdoor camera in the top 10 outdoor security cameras accepts a microSD card up to 512 GB. Videos stay in the camera and can be viewed from the app at no extra cost. Tapo Care adds a cloud copy: 7 days of clip history from €3.99 a month, 30 days from €11.99. In both cases, footage is viewed from the app, on the principle described in the guide to view a security camera remotely on a smartphone.
At Ring, the app shows the live feed and sends alerts, and the Ring Home subscription keeps recorded videos in the cloud. Three plans exist in France:
| Ring Home plan | Price | Devices covered | History |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | €3.99/month or €39.99/year | One camera or doorbell | Up to 180 days |
| Standard | €9.99/month or €99.99/year | All devices at one location | Up to 180 days |
| Premium | €19.99/month or €199.99/year | All devices at one location | Up to 180 days, plus 14 days of continuous recording |
This is where Ring is strong: up to 180 days of history, for anyone who wants to go back six months, and a Standard plan that covers every camera in the same home.
Ecosystem and voice assistants
Ring is part of the Amazon group, and it shows. Its cameras appear on Echo Show screens and respond to Alexa voice commands, according to Ring’s documentation, a direct integration for a home already equipped with Echo devices. To make devices from different brands work together, the guide to the home automation hub presents the shared protocols, including Matter.
Tapo lists both assistants on its product sheets: Alexa and Google Assistant. The brand therefore also suits a home equipped with Google Nest speakers.
Range and price
The French Tapo Store lists 20 outdoor cameras on 29 September 2026. It includes 360° wired models (C520WS, C560WS), battery cameras (C425), solar kits (C460 KIT, C675D KIT), a 4G camera (C501GW) and dual-lens models. Prices run from €34.99 for the C310 to €229.99 for the C675D KIT, and the C460 KIT, C560WS and C675D KIT film in 4K.
Ring’s French shop shows 7 outdoor cameras on the same date, from €34.99 (Stick Up Cam Battery) to €89.99 (Outdoor Camera Plus Solar), in battery, wired or solar versions: a focused range, designed to fit easily into a home already equipped with Ring or Alexa.
